I’m always looking for career opportunities that would get me to central Florida. My question is this, is an hour to an hour and a half close enough to Disney to encourage frequent trips?
I wouldn’t want to get down there (in the Ocala/Inverness area) and be discouraged to go on weekday evenings because it was too far away.
Thanks and have a great week!

Re: How far away is close enough?
I lived down there years ago(20 to be exact) and things have changed significantly but I think it's a personal choice. I'd say an hour isn't bad -I was about an hour away at the time and we'd go quite frequently ...maybe during the week once and a while but more likely on weekends. The issue now is traffic(well, it was then but nowhere nearly as bad), so if you're going to be a distance away I'd go with a location that has a relatively smooth travel route. You could be 10 miles away with a 45 minute drive or 20 miles away with a quicker drive.

Re: How far away is close enough?
I moved to Tampa in May of this year. I like this area, there’s lots to do if you’re into sports and going to the beach and “city life” but the downfall is I live on the west side of Tampa near the airport and it’s a little bit of a drive to WDW. If it’s a light traffic day I can make it over to Disney in about and hour and 20 minutes. Right now I’m in an apartment but I think once I’m ready to buy a house (hopefully in the next 3-4 years) I’ll try to find something a little closer to Orlando just for those days when I might need a quick jaunt to Disney after work during the week. I think it all depends on what you like and how often you plan on visiting the parks. I don’t mind the drive too much, but after a long day in the parks the hour and 20 minute drive home can be a bit of a pain.

My wife and I were looking west of Orlando towards the Tampa way. We were thinking somewhere in between.Just Theo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 5:16 am I moved to Tampa in May of this year. We lived in the Clermont area and that was a great spot to be. We were not down in the 4 corners area but farther north near the turnpike.

I spent some time driving the Clermont & Minneola area-up 27. There were some beautiful areas! Looks like they are building but I was also told there are around 1000 new homes to be built up there too!
