Re: The smells of Disney
WooHoo! My first post on the boards!
While Disney has a bunch of wonderful, unique smells, the "Disney Water Smell" is for me, by far, the most significant. Let me explain:
Ever since my first trip to WDW in '71, I had always associated the bromine smell of the water with good times, happy events, and a general sense of well-being. Fast forward to 2016. Older now (much older), I still had my passion for all things Disney when, unexpectedly, I began having issues with my heart. Long story short, I had to have a cardiac procedure done to correct things. The day of the procedure, I was quite nervous about the whole thing & entered the hospital lobby with a lot of anxiety & trepidation. As I crossed over the door threshold a blast of "Disney Water Smell" washed over me! Turns out the decorative fountain in the lobby used bromine as a decontaminant & it filled the lobby with that smell. I breathed in deeply, and took it as a sign that everything would work out fine that day - and it did! It also helped that one of the OR nurses was a huge Disney fan too! We had some wonderful conversation while I was being prepped, and I remember her saying "Dream about Disney" as the sedatives took effect.
Funny, now that smell evokes memories of not only good times with family & friends, but a good memory of a tough few days in my life where Disney made a big difference for me.
Oh, and "Burning Rome" ain't bad either...

I am glad that I am not alone with loving the smell of Disney water rides! I also love the smell of the Poly!
Re: The smells of Disney
I don't see if you got an answer but the Pirate Life candle from Magic Candle Company is one of their best. To my mind it's not exactly right but it's close enough for a whiff of nostalgia.Meliabella wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 5:30 pm That sounds amazing! Might you have a link to the shop where you purchased this candle? Thank you so much!

The smell of Main Street is my favorite. There’s something about it that makes me feel good. As CaptHookFan said Pirates and Haunted are great too!

Re: The smells of Disney
Definitely the smell of Pirates of the Carribbean and the Polynesian.
One Disney smell from a long lost attraction is the orange grove in the old, wonderful Horizons attraction at Epcot. (Close is the orange smell in Soarin.)
Oh, man, I almost forgot...Rome Burning on Spaceship Earth!!

I loved the scent of the orange trees on the original Soarin.

Re: The smells of Disney
I have several but my favorites are walking into Caribbean Beach Resort and The Polynesian and getting hit with those awesome scents. It's just another way that Disney gets you engrossed in their product - but I love it!

Re: The smells of Disney
Not necessarily Disney but it can be found there. It's called petrichor. It's that earthy smell just after it rains.

Re: The smells of Disney
My favorite smell would be of Rome burning in Spaceship Earth, no idea why but I absolutely love that smell!
