Contemporary Resort
Contemporary Resort is my very favorite hotel. It brings back so many fantastic memories with my family. There is nothing better than hearing the monorail come zooming through the building when you open up the door from your room!

Re: Contemporary Resort
Had the opportunity to stay here when Disney World re-opened over the Summer and was blown away that I was able to stay here! We ate at The Wave on the first night and I think it might be the best value for what you get on property. Having a drink up at the California Grill and then walking out to see all of the Magic Kingdom area was incredible. I will say, I am glad to see that they will be doing a refurb of the rooms because they needed it. Not sure if I'll stay there again (because of price) but got to mark this off the bucket list!

So glad to hear you love Contemporary! My fiancé and I will be staying there for the first time this July on our Honeymoon. Any tips?

My preference has always been the Bay Lake view instead of the Magic Kingdom view. For me, the MK view is overshadowed by the parking lot. Generally, people choose the MK view to watch the fireworks but they are not happening now. Plus you can watch the electric water pageant from the Bay Lake View. If you don't know what the water pageant is you need to check it out. It is a historic icon!

We have stayed there 3 times now. Once in the main tower with MK view and twice at BLT. Staying BLT again in March, can't wait! Love being able to walk over to MK.

Did you know that The Wave used to be an arcade? It was awesome. They had video games and also a movie theatre showing free movies every night. They also had someone that made caricatures of you. I am secretly wishing that they convert it back to one with all the old school games like Galaga, Ms. PacMan, Frogger.

Re: Contemporary Resort
The Contemporary is the epicenter of all things Disney to me. I have a memory when I was a small kid. It is just the image of the monorail gliding above us as we ate breakfast. The sparkling widows silhouetted against the sky......
I have never shaken that image from my mind. It was 1974 and we stayed in one of the wings. This resort is my favorite for that reason.
There are other things too. The night I decided I HAD to buy DVC was standing on the sky bridge watching Wishes and then strolling thru the bamboo garden at Bay Lake. There was that first breakfast we had a Chef Mickey’s with my kids eyes all lit up on seeing Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy. There are those great flatbreads at Contempo and my daughters Frozen cupcake. And then there was the night I slipped off to the Top of the World at BLT while our laundry was drying......so many great memories.
Now it totally have a big thing over the Polynesian. But The Contemporary and Bay Lake Tower are my favorite.

The Wave at the Contemporary is really good. They have an emphasis on local and sustainable food sources. I have already mentioned the flatbreads at the Contempo Cafe. I also love the California Grill. If you take a boat over to wilderness Lodge, the Roaring Fork is there. I have heard good things about it from friends of ours to stay at Fort Wilderness. Or take the monorail over to the Polynesian to Ohana or Kona Cafe.......Disney dave wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 3:35 pm Staying at bay lake tower in august. What are some good restaurants?

It is our favorite too! We were looking forward to our trip this August, but just got the dreaded call that they had to move us due to renovations.

I love the Contemporary because you feel so Disney there. I stayed at this resort in October 2019. I had a Bay Lake View which was incredible! The sounds of the boats tooting their horn made you feel so relaxed. I also got a great view of the Electrical Water Pageant at around 10pm. You could even see the Orlando Eye and the Star Flyer from the room because it was so high up! I loved waking up to hearing people At Chef Mickey's Waving There Towels. it was just a walk or a Monorail ride away from Magic Kingdom which meant i could go back to the resort to have a dip in the Pool and a Mickey Premium Bar At the Sand Bar. Contempo Cafe did the best breakfast. i had the bounty pladder which is bacon, mickey waffles and more! all on one dish! I had such a good time at this resort. this is favourite Disney because of this amazing trip I had there!

Re: Contemporary Resort
Awesome! We stayed in the garden wing in February 2020. We requested a ground level room because they are the only ones that have a patio. The upper floors don’t have a balcony and we wanted something to enjoy outside with our room. If that is something you want to do, I recommend calling the normal guest services Disney world number and putting in that room request!

The contemporary is my favorite resort. I have not been there since I was a little kid. Lots of memories with my family. Love watching the monorail go by and watching the fire works at magic kingdom at night and listening to the music. Playing on the playground and swimming in the pool. So much fun.
