Are you referring to MDE app? Never tried that -only tied my CC to it. I do know you can link when for paying when Mobile Ordering.

DFB Guide has a detailed post about doing this for mobile checkout - not sure if you need to add a gc for food or something else. This seems to be something that was added in May 2020.

Note that even though you can use Gift Cards in the MDE app to pay for Mobile Orders, it does not save the gift card in the app, so you have to re-enter the number each time.
It is a little maddening that you have to type it in each time and it can't save it. I am hoping that eventually it integrates with the disneygiftcard.com website and will allow you to access your saved cards.

Going in May and I was hoping to use gc's. Thank you for the info.

Going off memory here - but to pay off your hotel reservation, you might need to use the website to do it or you might need to call. You can definitely use a Disney gift card to do so, but I'm not sure if the app will let you do it.
