Big SAD NWES for Disney. Its main rapid transportation line "The Monorail" has announced it will be shutting down for good.
The service will be doing a phased shutdown to limit the impact on guests, cast members, those with disabilities, etc.
When will this happen: The date keeps getting pushed back until EPCOT is 100% completed. Rumor is: 2025-2026.
The specific date Disney hasn't officially confirmed yet.

The plan
-All venues with Magic Kingdom and resorts will have expanded public sidewalks and direct paths.
-Disney World accepted a grant to expand its hybrid and electric bus fleet to help ADA and people that have specific challenges.
-This plan is to 100% to reduce its climate change and be more environmentally friendly.
-Epcot's new construction of projects has led to Disney World being more environmentally sustainable. Disney is considering adding another
gate to enter Epcot. Right now, everyone uses the main gate.

Why closing the monorail
-Old Technology
-High electricity costs
-High Costs for overall repairs
-Years of emergencies, public safety and security concerns, power outages, hot rail cars, etc.
-Injuries and deaths to humans including derailments.

They are not going to get rid of the Monorail. The one article you linked to is from Mouse Trap News which is a satire site. Inside the Magic also isn't very reputable.
