Ratatouille Ride Quick Impressions

Postby Brad192 » Sat Sep 04, 2021 8:43 am

Hey everyone! I was lucky enough to catch Cory's morning stream of the D23 preview of the new Ratatouille ride in Epcot. They say first impressions are everything, so here are mine (I'll try not to give too many spoilers):

>>The courtyard is very well done with tons of little things to look at. The fountain is pretty cool in it's detail.

>>The queue is outstanding. Tons of detail to explore, with just enough entertainment to keep you occupied while waiting in what is certainly to be HUGE lines to ride. It's all indoors (think AC on a hot FL day), and a
multiple sense experience with lots of "mood sounds" while waiting, and an appearance of "Ghost Gusteau" giving you some helpful info.

>> The ride vehicles seem to be clones of Rise vehicles with a 'rat' overlay. They seat six people in two rows. It's a 3D ride, so be sure to snatch a pait of glasses.

>> The ride is fairly short. I'd estimate about 3.5 minutes, and loaded with frantic 3D action enhanced by the motion programming in the vehicles, as well as your standard Disney sensory enhancements such as water
effects, heat, smells, etc. Makes for a very immersive ride.

>>Cory rode it 3 times, and each time the videos were slightly different, as well as the path the vehicle took. Good for repeat riding!

>> The end scene is very cute with an "All is well" kind of vibe going.

>> No exit into a gift shop! They have a little cart/kiosk in the exit area, but you're not forced to walk thru a shop to continue your day. (Parents should be thankful).

Overall, it's a very well done ride & I'm certain it will be very popular (and crowded) for a long time. It has repeat ride capability, which is a must if you want to check out all the details, as the ride really moves along & doesn't slow down much so you can really look closely at things. As Epcot has, relatively speaking, a small amount of rides to begin with, this should be a must-do when you're there. I'd give it about an 8.5 out of 10. I'll certainly be in line early my next trip to WDW.
