Waiting for specific things to reopen before booking?

Hi all! This is my first post on this forum and I'm excited to be here! My husband and I have been an avid watcher of ResortTV1 since the Hurricane Irma stream and are happy to have a bit more of a "slow moving" place to chat with hoppers!

That being said, we haven't been to Disney in over three years now. We were planning on going last year but, you know, covid. I'm starting to feel physical pain in my heart now due to withdrawals and have a nice chunk of Disney Visa points just sitting there so we're trying to figure out when to book our next trip.

The problem is we really don't want to come down until the mask mandate is lifted (we're both fully vaccinated) and Trader Sam's has reopened. Deep down we would love to come Halloween weekend (because I love a good cosplay), but I have a feeling that many closures and restrictions will still be in place then.

Is anyone else waiting to plan their trip around something specific, like a resort or restaurant reopening? Hopefully we'll all get there soon enough!!

I feel your pain Margaret. Disney is being super secretive about their timeline of reopening are reintroducing stuff and it’s extremely frustrating. I like staying at Port Orleans (either one) and there’s just zero information about when it will reopen. It’s complete speculation but from i’ve heard and read is that they will be back at “full operation” as early as October and as late as “the beginning of next year” 2022. So with that in mind i’m targeting December of this year for my next disney world stay, although i haven’t booked yet.

But to answer your question, for me it’s parades, nighttime spectaculars, and most shows. once that stuff returns there will be much more to the parks than just food, shopping, and rides, which are worth it too, but to me i’m in it for the “full experience”

I’m with you in Port Orleans! We stayed at French Quarter during our last visit and absolutely loved it so I really would like to have that as an option as well. It’s just such a weird place to be in — kind of sitting an waiting when it’s Disney. Because once you have your mind set on a date it’s always so fun to start planning. Fingers crossed!
