The sounds of Disney!

Postby The Maher Family » Mon Feb 08, 2021 11:16 am

Just a few notes, a couple of words or a sweet sound can move our feet, shake our soul, and send us back to a place we remember. What are the sounds of Disney that simply wake your heart and make you wish you were there?

Our home resort is Bay Lake Tower and one thing I just love doing is going up to TPW lounge or the skyway later at night around MK closing hours and listening to the traffic of the busses at the MK bus stop, listening to the Monorail go through the Contemporary and the boat whistles on the lake. It is so peaceful at night and of course the view of the castle.

The engine noise at the Tomorrowland Speedway

The sound of the monorail passing over you as you into and out of MK and Epcot.

The vintage music playing up and down Hollywood Boulevard at Hollywood Studios.

"I'm Walking Right Down the Middle of Main Street USA" playing during the trolley shows at the Magic Kingdom.

Love all of those sounds!

The narration/music on the Disney buses, especially when you get back to the resort you're staying at and it says welcome home...

I really like the chime of the skyline, brings me back to my last trip and the first time I actually got on it

Epcot entrance loop/Soarin Exit loop

Sound of the monorail closing

The sound/awful smell (lol) of Speedway

The transition of sounds when entering into Pandora

I never really thought about this but it's a good one ...most people complain about the fumes! I wonder if/when they go electric if they'll keep the "sound" ..otherwise it would be a pretty quiet ride

Honestly, I hope they never go electric. Those sounds and smells are practically iconic lol

I love a lot of the background music, especially Adventureland and the Epcot entrance area.

Yes for Sorcerer, it's pretty much on in the background all the time for me.

The music in Tomorrowland & EPCOT. The music just before Illuminations ( :( ) was about to begin. The music in the Africa area of Animal Kingdom. The music on the escalator down from Space Mountain. The little "ding" from the Magic Bands at the queues (although this is a much newer reminiscence than the others as Magic bands weren't around until I was an adult).

The Space Mountain queue music does it for me. It's definitely more specific, but a classic. :)

The music that always makes me smile is from the Tapestry of Nations parade. Visited in 2000 or 2001 and couldn't get enough so I searched online for the soundtrack periodically. It took until last year to find a CD but finally landed it. Cost me a pretty penny but I had to have it!

The sound of a horn honking while walking down Main Street USA that first visit to MK while on vacation. Oof, all the feels.
