Where to use my 5th day ticket?

We're going in June and originally booked 4-day single park per day tickets. We now have 5-day tickets, but our first day will only be half a day.

The problem is I can't decide where to use that half-day. It'll be the afternoon/evening of our arrival day (a Monday), and I'd originally thought to use it at Epcot, then spend 2 full days at MK and 1 each at AK and HS. We spent something like 4 days at Epcot on our last trip, so I felt like a half day would suffice this time.

But now I'm reading about the F&G festival (we've never been), and I'm wondering if I shouldn't designate a whole day for that.

What do you think? And if you think we should spend a whole day at Epcot, where do I spend that half day? MK (so it'd be 1 1/2 days there)? Or one of the other parks?

Depends on how interested you are in park hopping. I never use a park pass on Epcot because I finish every day there since it's open later. The two most difficult parks right now are Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Just about everything is an hour wait in both parks. So you need to get to those two parks early in the day. I would target the first half of the day in each of those two parks so you are in line early. Then hop to Epcot after 2pm and you will still have 6 hours to close out the day.

Normally we do a full day at each park then we take our 5th day and go back to Magic Kingdom. This has always worked for us but we have never had a "half day" like you are talking about because we always drive down and it is about a 10 hour drive.

If things remain the way they are right now with crowd levels and shows still being closed (FOTLK & Nemo) I'd use that half day at Animal Kingdom. You could swoop in and easily do the few rides and attractions for a half day. Ride the 5 major rides, meander along the trails, and get a bite to eat sounds very doable in that timeframe.

You can make an argument that Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studies, and EPCOT are ½ day parks. But Magic Kingdom is at least one a full day and that’s including the reduced crowds. Based on this I would suggest using your 5th day on Magic Kingdom.
