The DVC forum seems kind of dead - thought I'd try to liven things up but posting a topic to discuss...
What do you think is the best use of your points?
There's Animal Kingdom Lodge Value rooms, Boardwalk Standard View, Bay Lake Tower Standard View, etc...
Did I miss an option in the polls? Post it here and I'll add it!
I know for a Grand Villa, I was looking and nothing beats the Old Key West rooms for points per night!

Re: Best use of points
I am not a DVC owner, but I have been looking into joining VERY seriously multiple times. As you noted, AK rooms are definitely the cheapest throughout the year which IMO if you've ever stayed at AKL or Kidani Village, you probably know this is an incredible value and great use of your points.
A quick look at the DVC point charts at: https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.co ... ts-charts/ we can see clearly the dates below offer the best value in terms of raw points per night cost for Sun nights through Thurs nights:
Jan 1—31
Sep 1-19
Sep 20 —30
Dec 1—23
I've always been surprised to see the Dec 1-23 date range as part of the cheapest points per night cost throughout the year. INCREDIBLE value during the best season at Disney World!
Looking at the Magic Kingdom area resorts, you can stay at BLT, Copper Creek or Boulder Ridge in a deluxe studio for 13-15 points per night and 16-17 points for Poly. That is incredible. At AKL for the same dates, you can stay at in a Savannah Deluxe Studio room for 13-15 points per night OR as little as 7 points for most nights in September for a value room - that is incredible to get you into one of the best resorts on property, admittedly not the best view, but your are in Disney World during a really fun Halloween celebration time!
If you have 150 points - which I feel is a common purchase for new DVC owners, or a total amount of points that people have purchased over the years - you could absolutely stay 7-10 nights per year at some of the best resorts at Disney World. Using just these date windows you could do 5 nights at AKL for Halloween and then ~6-7 nights during December at the Magic Kingdom area resorts!
I really need to look more into this membership lol

Re: Best use of points
Still ....I'd say SSR offers the best use of points overall. I've stayed at every WDW DVC except WLV, which is next on the list, and no question those other resorts far exceed SSR/OKR in location and theme. Yes AKL offers the Value Studio for less points but try getting one of those rooms! SSR with the newly renovated rooms are gorgeous, the quiet pools are actually quiet, and the location to DS provides walkable full evening entertainment. The quality of the staff is close to that of WL and Poly -which are the uncontested best. So if we're talking all season, even on relatively short notice, "VALUE" I think it wins. That being said, POLY is my favorite overall....OhanaMana wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 5:56 am I am not a DVC owner, but I have been looking into joining VERY seriously multiple times. Re: Best use of points
For me, location is the most important - so I think the Boardwalk Standard view rooms are a really good value. Not as cheap as the AK Value rooms of course, but BWV's location imho can't be beat. Walkable to Hollywood Studios and Epcot, but you also could use the Friendship Boats or if you walk to Epcot you could take the Skyliner too.
I prefer BCV even though it costs more points - but if I'm short on points or want to stretch my points a little bit - BWV Standard View is great imho! Major drawback of owning at either BWV and BCV is the 2042 expiration of course.
