Yacht Club

Postby Polypack » Wed Jan 27, 2021 2:57 pm

We are staying at YC this summer. Give me the good and the bad. We want to enjoy it to the fullest and don't want to miss out on anything.

We're booked there in May as well, though it looks like we'll end up cancelling (as we don't want our first family Disney trip to be with masks, etc). Location was our biggest draw, and the class/$$ ratio was pretty high.

Great location, walkable to Epcot and Studios (though a bit longer to Studios). The Boardwalk is also short stroll away. The pool is perhaps one of the best, but can get quite crowded, especially if you get there in the afternoon. They do have private cabanas at the pool if you are willing to pay up. Some find the hotel theme a bit stuffy and not very whimsical. We’ve stayed at Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Boardwalk and Swann but for years now have only gone to Yacht Club. We love hitting a park and then come back to rest then head to Epcot to walk the countries and grab dinner at one of the many restaurants.

I've been to the property as a visitor and not a guest. This is a deluxe resort and the lobby and main areas a very nice looking. The reason we were there was for my Dad's birthday and we were taking him to Yachtsman Steakhouse. As Josh of Resort TV will attest this is one of the best if not the best steak places on Disney World property. I myself had a 16-ounce New York Strip that had been marinated overnight in Jack Daniels and a pineapple sauce...and it was delectable. :D My father who is very picky about good service said that our waiter was the best he's ever seen. If your a big steak enthusiast then you shouldn't miss on trying this one out.

YC is one of our favorite resorts. We will be there again in March. So close to Epcot and HS. The pool shared with Beach Club is one of the best. Close to Beaches and Cream (Beach Club) and several other very good restaurants. Also close to the Boardwalk. All rooms have balconies. About the only complaint is we had a room once where the quests next door had a dog the yelped when they were away. YC is one of the four dog-friendly resorts. The dog seemed to be overly loud. I am not sure if it was because we were on the ground floor or that the floors are hard laminate instead of carpet.
