Merchandise that isn't sold anymore ):

Postby Wilbur Robinson » Tue Feb 09, 2021 4:24 pm

Anyone else find themselves wishing that they could go back in time to buy old merchandise? Me and my brother searched all over for this Spaceship Earth mug only to find out that it wasn't sold anymore.

What discontinued merchandise do you wish you could go back and buy?

I don’t have a specific item in mind right now, but I do think the shopping was more interesting and diverse in the 80s and 90s — more unique items that were themed to the specific land and its atmosphere, and not necessarily Disney branded. Now it seems like a majority of the shops carry basically the same merchandise.

I remember several things I got and loved at Disney World as a kid that it seems like you couldn’t get now. For example, I got these fun holographic earrings in Future World that didn’t have a character or anything, but fit well with the theme of the land. I had fun buying them and then I had fun wearing them later and remembering my vacation, and I think it was easier to keep wearing them and enjoying them in everyday life because they didn’t have a big Mickey or something on them. Now I feel like Disney World wouldn’t sell them if they didn’t include IP.

Also I had a Figment pin that I wore around on a jacket, and then I lost the jacket somewhere with the pin on it. I wish I could get that pin back.

I couldn't agree more! Over time it's been harder for me to pick merchandise because of how much of it includes IP. Their souvenirs don't always need to be something blatantly Disney-related, either. It's really the memory that's attached to buying the merchandise.

There are some on ebay right now price around $40 (little pricey in my opinion but if you really want it!)

My merch misses go back to when they had star wars weekends and my problem was I didn't have the $ for everything I wanted.
