Outside of the math-is it cost effective or not? Who uses the Disney Dining plan for the pure conveince of it?
Also do you ever think with Chapek at the helm we'll see free Dining plans offered again?

Very good question! We used the quick service dining plan for our last vacation in November 2019, it was definitely a convenience buy, we paid a lot more than we used in credits! For our next trip we plan to use the 'disney dollars' we get from our Disney visa card plus gift cards to buy food. We can get discounted gift cards from Target using the red card or from Costco/BJ's/Sam's.
We are hopeful that free dining returns as that may be worth it but not holding my breath (my husband is more optimistic than I)

If you use the dining plan "properly" it can be really worth the money. Not only are all of your meals prepaid, you don't have to budget your meal selections. For example, get the steak dinner every night and you're definitely getting your money's worth!
Our family usually goes for the mid priced meal plan which offers one quick service, one sit-down dining, and two snacks per day. It's A LOT of food, and we're usually left with lots of snacks to use up on our last day so we can take some Disney treats home with us.
Everyone has their own opinion on the meals plans. So personally, it's a no-brainer for me. Meal plan all-day everyday!
HA! At this rate, I'll be surprised if the meal plan comes back like it was. Willing to bet there will be changes...

From the ease of use it's a no brainer-that's the only reason I've ever gotten it...or it was free. I think bottom line is Disney wins on the $ or they wouldn't have them
