I had a reservation. I’m DVC member, but made a cash reservation so I could book it at day 499 before. Then life happened. And I found out my daughter was not going be able to go because she was not gonna be able to get away from school. My dream of being there on the 50th anniversary was completely crushed when I realize that I was not going be able to get a Magic Kingdom park reservation on October 1. I could not justify the crazy amount of money that we would be spending for the cash reservation if my daughter couldn’t go and I couldn’t be in Magic Kingdom on that day. So……
I canceled my reservation and booked one for late spring/early summer using DVC points.
In terms of planning I had not made anything other than the cash reservation for the hotel room. I had neglected to add park tickets at the time that I made the reservation for the hotel room and thus I could not make a park reservation for October 1. As there are no park reservations available for that day if you don’t have one, I doubt it’s gonna happen. As of a day or so ago all other parks were open on October 1.
I doubt this really helps you in planning, but it’s good to be able to talk about my terrible disappointment

I’m so sorry. There is a lot of disappointment now. I hope that the magic makes up for that when you get back.

I am coming down with a group of 17 friends and family Oct 9-17. SOOOO excited for the 50th. Just renewed my AP so I could make park reservations which I plan to do today. When I was talking to the CM on the phone when renewing my pass, she indicated that call volumes were up with people doing exactly what I was doing in preparation for trips planned for the 50th.
I'm a DVC member so we will be staying at the Boardwalk. Can't wait!

I was planning a trip, but with the virus and losing my job, that kind of threw a wrench into the works. Hoping to go next year.

So many difficult things, but Disney World gives us hope.

Disneyland celebrated their 50th for 2+ years.. I am hoping that Disney World will do the same!! I don't want to be there in Oct 2021, but I hope to be in spring 2022.

I am booked at the Caribbean Beach Resort, but I did it too late to get MK reservations for October 1. I'm hoping they open up more in a couple months. But, if not I'm thinking about switching hotels to the Contemporary or Polynesian because those opened on October 1 as well.

Our next trip will be in January (2022)...and we were just there a couple of weeks ago. Thought we'd pass along that we didn't see any merchandise celebrating the anniversary...asked some castmembers...they think that Disney may be holding off until October. May have to keep an eye on the Disney Store app to see if something shows sooner!
Everyone have fun when you go!

I'll be going in November 2021 for 11 nights. My longest stay so far to make up for not going in 2020. Going Solo and staying at Pop. I hope a little more magic returns by then. I'm also hoping Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party will resume along with fireworks, parades and characters. I miss the trains at the Magic Kingdom but doubt they will have Tron completed by then to allow them to resume.
3/14/14 - 3/20/14: Pop Century - First Trip
11/27/15 - 12/2/15: All Star Music - Solo
5/21/16 - 5/28/16: All-Star Sports
11/26/16 - 12/3/16: All-Star Movies - Solo
3/18/17 - 3/24/17: All-Star Sports
11/24/17 - 12/1/17: All-Star Movies
5/25/18 - 6/1/18: All Star Music
11/23/18 -11/30/18: All-Star Movies
3/16/19 - 3/23/19: All-Star Sports - Solo
11/29/19 - 12/6/19: All-Star Movies
11/26/21 - 12/7/21: Pop Century - Solo

Do you find that you get bored or lonely when by yourself? I’ve always taken vacations with family but never thought about going solo.

No, don't get bored at Disney at all. I love my solo trips! I can do whatever I wannukka and my schedule is flexible. I always have a plan but about day 5 when I have been to all the parks I veer off and find other things to do. Disney Springs, Pool time, cocktails, etc. I can easily find someone to go with me, but sometimes I need some ME time.

Since we are DVC members, we make our reservations 11 months out (for the resort). Tickets, we do a bit closer in...but with the requirement for Park Reservations, we did them much earlier.

My sister is a DVC member. We originally had reservations for my birthday in October 2020 but decided to postpone our trip until first week of March 2021. We plan to skip what is sure to be madness come the end of 2021, and are planning another trip first quarter of 2022 instead.
