General Discussion about Shades of Green, Military park passes, and any other military perks are welcome here!
I'm staying at Shades of Green for the first time this July, and would welcome any tips like rooms to request, how their buses work, and how it is different from a Disney resort. We'll be renting a mobility scooter for the week and won't have a car, so I'm a bit nervous about how we will get around.

Re: Shades of Green & Military Tips
I've seen videos of Shades of Green. It looks like a nice resort. Unfortunately the only thing I really know about it is that you could conceivably walk to Magic Kingdom from there. It's right across the street from the Polynesian. The Poly and Grand Floridian are connected via a walkway and there's the new walkway between GF and MK. To do it you'd have to be a heartier soul than me.

Re: Shades of Green & Military Tips
Hello, Casey!
It's been awhile since we stayed at Shades of Green...but I'm sure you and your family will enjoy the experience. The rooms there are considerably larger than the Disney Resorts. There is covered parking available. The Disney busses pickup and drop-off at the front entrance.
The tricky part may be tickets. Pre-Covid and Pre-Park Reservations, it would be fine to wait until you get to the resort and buy your tickets there. However, because you need to buy and have your tickets before you make park reservations, there is the potential risk that you get there, buy your tickets, and then run into a problem that the park is already full that day.
The way around this (I think) would be to go ahead and purchase your military discount tickets now, and with those in hand, get those park reservations taken care of.
The website for Shades of Green ticketing is: https://www.shadesofgreen.org/experienc ... isneyworld
It would be worth your time to give them a call before ordering...just to confirm the process for making the park reservations with the military discount tickets.
You can check availability and get more information on this at: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/avail ... -calendar/
I hope this is helpful and, again, hope you have a magical time!

Re: Shades of Green & Military Tips
We have stayed at Shades of Green many times and always get our tickets there.
Pre-covid, we stopped by the ticket office to purchase.
During Covid to purchase tickets and make park reservations, email advancedtickets@shadesofgreen.org to get the form. Electronically fill it out and email it in. They will call you for a credit card and verify your information and eligibility. Then they will send you a FedEx tracking number for you tickets. The process of sending in the form and getting a call is about 5 business days. Right now, they aren't accepting emails for the Salute tickets because the new tickets are coming out in March.
After you get the tickets, you add them to your My Disney Experience app. There you can make your park reservations and other reservations.
Sign up to the Shades of Green group on Facebook for more information. SOG does post resort updates in that group. The digital Ticket form is also in this group. Doesn't let me attach it here.
There is an Exchange store on property. It carries a lot of Disney themed apparel, food, drinks and every day needs if you forget something.
The rooms are larger than Disney resort studio rooms. 4 people in a room is very comfortable. Lots of room for everyone.
The buses are equipped with handicapped scooter access. There is a set schedule for each bus.

Re: Shades of Green & Military Tips
I emailed Shades this morning because the Military tix were released by Disney yesterday, however SoG still shows the 2020 pricing matrix. I'm hoping they update this soon so I can compare and figure out what I need.
We have a group of 9 and a semi compliated sitch going on. We have resort & ticket package already booked through Disney. In order to get the military discount for the resort, we wouldn't be able to get it for the tix (through D) as you can only get one or the other. So our Disney CM said to call for pricing at SoG when the rates release and then compare. If we can get our tix a lot cheaper through SoG, then we could purchase those, then call back and drop the tix with the package and add the military discount for the resort only. But with the park res system, the CM said specifically to do it in that order. We already have park res's so we'd need to get the SoG tix and link them first and then drop the package tix. This way we get resort discount AND tix discount. Honestly, it's kinda of a pain in the rear, but it's the best way to get all of the discounts. We're hoping the DDP comes back just for sheer convenience, but if not the multiple discounts will help a lot.
