Re: Design a “new/old” Future World attraction

So I’ve been thinking about this, and I keep leaning towards a The Sky pavilion. We have The Sea, we have The Land, but no actual Sky Pavilion. Mission: Space could be a centerpiece or jump off point for it, although let’s be honest, just turn it back to Horizons...but when life gives you lemons......

Design a “new/old” Future World attraction

While the Magic Kingdom has always featured the delight of fantasy, the original Future World showcased the excitement of the real world. But it’s true that attractions from the 80s might need an update (as much as we loved them). If you were to create a new attraction for Future World in the old st...

Thank you! This is great information, including some things that wouldn't have even occurred to me to check. I appreciate the advice on the park and on other things to do in the area.

In addition to Disney on both coasts: AstroWorld (RIP), Six Flags (Arlington TX), Kings Island, Coney Island (Cincinnati), Lakeside (Denver).

I e-mailed directly and can vouch for this. It was fun to reply to the survey and to be part of the research project.

Re: Never Again

I went on Tower of Terror at the encouragement of a guidebook that suggested everyone should try it. There happened to be a short wait time, so I decided to go for it — even knowing that it’s focused on two things I don’t like, spooky stuff and big drops. I respected the achievement of the attracti...

Universal-only trip?

I’m thinking about taking a short trip down to Orlando and going just to Universal, not Disney. Since Universal is smaller, it seems possible to get a thorough experience of it in less time, and for less cost. But I’m having trouble imagining going to Orlando and not going to Disney at all! Does any...

Re: Merchandise that isn't sold anymore ):

I don’t have a specific item in mind right now, but I do think the shopping was more interesting and diverse in the 80s and 90s — more unique items that were themed to the specific land and its atmosphere, and not necessarily Disney branded. Now it seems like a majority of the shops carry basically ...

Re: History of teacup rides?

Thanks for this source! Interesting that it’s sort of in between new and a copy, if it’s a kind of reinvention of the tilt-a-whirl, but if I had to choose, that does seem like more of a new idea. I started thinking about it after I saw a YouTube show (I forget which) ranking ride vehicles. They didn...

History of teacup rides?

As we know, there are teacup-type type rides in other parks. Does anyone know which came first? Did Disney take a preexisting ride format and add a charming theme? Or did Disney invent the whole concept (circles going around inside circles going around inside a circle) which was then copied by other...

I really appreciated the home streams while the parks were closed. Josh and Jenna came up with lots of engaging things to do on the stream from home, and it kept my spirits up to have those streams to look forward to and enjoy. I also loved the recent surprise retro stream — it happened to be just w...

Closed attractions you never got to experience

Which attractions that are now gone do you wish you could have experienced, and why? I would have liked to try Club Cool. I guess now I’ll never know the taste of Beverly! I also think the old flying saucers look amazing. I know they tried another version and the new one didn’t really work well eith...

Re: Which closed attraction do you miss the most?

I always felt that Horizons was kind of a sequel to the Carousel of Progress. I’m still fond of the Carousel, but Horizons was a nice companion — it explored similar themes while going farther into the future, like a sequel. I’m glad we still have the Carousel but Horizons was special, and I liked g...
