Re: Carousel of Progress video but... something is not quite right
Did they just replay the entire 40s segment or try to stop it and then speed forward? I usually do Carousel when I'm heat exhausted so I'd just be like "did they just do this? no? maybe I am thirsty? did I hallucinate that I saw this already?"

It's called Friday Steaks (FS) where I am. This started during the pandemic and it's just a little thing to make it more of an event.

Re: Blast from the Past
More from Ft. Wilderness, this time from 1985! The year I was born and probably from my second trip, lol. Camp site registration (look at that rate!), and welcome letter from the manager. I love it! We used to stay at Fort Wilderness around the late 80s also. I found a hand-stamped multi-day park p...

Re: Attractions that scared you as a kid but you love now?
As a kid I was terrified of the “Haunted Mansion” and the alien scene from “The Great Movie Ride”, but now I miss “The Great Movie Ride” and it’s fun cast member driven story, and the “Haunted Mansion” has become my all time favorite ride. This is what I was going to write - the alien that hangs do...

Re: Most Polarizing Food at WDW
Love it, Hate it. What are some of the most polarizing foods at WDW? My #1 pick would have to be the turkey leg. A meatsicle! Lots of people love 'em. Smells wonderful, looks pretty tasty, and the first bite or two is really good, but after that, at least for me, is pretty much nothing but grease &...

Re: Never Again
I went on Tower of Terror at the encouragement of a guidebook that suggested everyone should try it. There happened to be a short wait time, so I decided to go for it — even knowing that it’s focused on two things I don’t like, spooky stuff and big drops. I respected the achievement of the attracti...

Re: WDW areas which cause family discord
The bank account! I would probably bankrupt us- As the Runaway Railway song goes, "No one can stop us now [from buying a 20 oz soda that is $4.50 and also a $70 sweatshirt]." Regret nothing in the parks ,my dude. Except the turkey leg, but not for financial reasons. Haha I thought I was t...

Re: what are some funny things that have happened at disney world?
here’s mine! one time, we went to the haunted mansion and were in the pre show. a lady near us then asks us if the floor fell below us. we all thought this was hilarious! That's a different kind of ride, for sure, if the floor opened. Personal fave is I was on Tower of Terror and at the moment at t...

Hi all! I registered last week on here, but I thought I'd formally introduce myself. My name is Kevin and I'm a huge Disney World fan with a slight Disney World commercial obsession (More on that in another post), I am physically disabled but try and travel to Disney World once a year. My father an...

Re: What is the FIRST thing you do at WDW?
I'm not quite sure if this type of post has been made before, but I thought I'd give it a go! When you first arrive at WDW, what park do you go to, what do you do first? When we go to WDW, we always go to Epcot first, and eat at either Japan or the Land. :D Lots of fun memories! Traditionally, the ...

Re: WDW areas which cause family discord
For us, it's usually dinner on the last night. We're usually great planners, but somehow never think about where to get dinner on the last night until the last minute. And sometimes we would walk up to quick service restaurants and find them closed, realize that we didn't want to eat there, etc. Pl...

Re: Never Again
For me it was the Grand Floridian Cafe. We told them we were celebrating our daughter's 7th birthday (and she had the button on) and I have not ever had a worse experience at Disney, maybe just generally at a restaurant. The waiter came and took our order and then never came back to check on us unt...

Re: WDW areas which cause family discord
Do you mean the Coral Reef restaurant (maybe Living Seas is the old name?) where you are looking into the aquarium in the Seas with Nemo & Friends Pavilion? We ate there in October and celebrated my son's 4th birthday (his birthday is actually in May, but our May trip got cancelled because Disn...

WDW areas which cause family discord
Out of curiosity, did anyone else ever experience major family arguments and fighting over some aspect of WDW? We went a number of times and had a lot of fun, but we would always, ALWAYS have an insane blowout at the Living Seas because a) it was hard to get a reservation b) it happened at the end o...

Journey Into Imagination With Figment (honestly, I think it's just Figment's voice that bothers me). Since it seems like this is rarely more than a 10-15 minute wait anyway, I was kind of hoping/expecting Disney would reimagine this for the 50th celebration, especially considering how many other ch...

Re: Has anyone ridden Mystic Manor?
Funny you mention the brutal punishing humidity and fans- it's the same in Tokyo Disneyland/Sea. (I don't mean to state the obvious, but some folks just don't understand) We were at TDL /TDS in Aug 2019 and it was over 100 *F each day. Everyone had parasols, hand held or neck fans and cooling towel...

Re: Journey to the Center of the Earth at Tokyo DisneySea
The fifth dimension is pretty cool, but it's a technological headache and that's why it isn't replicated at the other parks. This engineering video gives a great explanation of how the ride works and also why we have slightly different versions (from engineering design perspective): https://www.yout...

Re: Peoplemover Reopening Extended Again
I think the PeopleMover uses some kind of ancient technology originally premiered at the World's Fair - is that the problem? For a ride that seems super safe/straightforward, this prolonged refurb is surprising to me and I wish a Disney engineer would hop on and explain it to us. (Not mad, just like...

Re: Traveling with Teens and preteens
I don't know if they still have it, but there was a teen Disney program and my sister did it the last few times we went. You sign up by the day and spend the whole day together. (She really hates the parks and doesn't want to take her kids.) This was a thousand years ago (late 90s/early 2000s). I di...
